The residents of Afariogun Community Development Association, Oshodi have been urged to pay up their four months outstanding security bills in order to avoid breach of security in the community.
The CDA covers Femi Akinshola, Jubril, Adedeji and Olusoji streets.
The appeal was made by the CDA as security guards complained of four months’ salary arrears.
The residents had equally complained that their inability to meet up with security bills for three to Four months was due to CoViD-19 crisis which affected their incomes.
However, the CDA warned that noncompliance with the payment could endanger the community as the security guards may reduce their commitment, creating loopholes in security.
In a notice signed by the CDA Secretary, Murphy Olubodun, the association noted that the level of compliance was low and not encouraging.
He explained that each building in the streets is charged N2,500 monthly except Femi Akinshola street where each building is charged N4,000 due to the low number of houses on the street.
Justifying the N4,000 charged each house in the street, Olubodun said there are only seven houses in the street and they have to be charged the higher amount so as to meet up with the salary paid to the security guards.
According to him, N28, 000 is realised from the street monthly, the security guards are paid N25, 000 while the remaining N3, 000 is used for street maintenance.
The CDA informed that it has tried to liaise with the police to constantly patrol the community to help curb the smoking of marijuana and nefarious activities by the hoodlums in the community.
Olubodun identified black spots to include Iyemoja, Jubril and Femi Akinshola streets where youths smoke and sell India hemp, tramadol and other hard drugs.
“Quality security measure to maintain peace and orderliness in the community is what the community leaders agitate for their environment,” he said.
