2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six Match Day One Review: Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels Off To Flying Start

Seven times Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions, Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons were off to full winning swing as they defeated their opponents in match day one of the title deciding playoffs.
The Jewel of Rivers edged Robo Queens 3-2, while Lafia Landladies defeated Benin Queens by a lone goal. Bayelsa Queens and Abia Angels shared the spoils in a glumly encounter.
Edo Queens 0-1 Nasarawa Amazons
The encounter was a repeat of 2025 Super Six encounter which ended in a stalemate, but the 2026 game saw Nasarawa Amazons winning by a lone goal scored by Adaobi Okah in the 61 minute.
Edo Queens had series of chances in the second 45 minutes which sailed off the goal post.
Nasarawa Amazons will go into the next encounter against Bayelsa Queens in their quest for a third League title win.
Edo Queens will hope to rekindle their Super Six presence with a win in their next game against Robo Queens.
Rivers Angels 3-2 Robo Queens
Rivers Angels got off to a commendable start with a five goal thriller win against Robo Queens.
It was a festival of goals at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium where Grace Saliu, Abasiofon Uwah and Ramotallahi Kareem got on the score sheet for the home side.
Prolific forward, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi remarkable pace and tricky skills got her a brace for Robo Queens in the highly competitive encounter.
Both sides produced entertaining football with terrific suspense as the game drove down the wire.
Rivers Angels will square up against Abia Angels in their next game on Monday, June 8 as they chase two wins from two games.
Robo Queens will aim to chase their fortunes when they face familiar foe, Edo Queens in the next blockbuster game.
Bayelsa Queens 1-1 Abia Angels
Defending champions, Bayelsa Queens were forced to 1-1 draw by debutants, Abia Angels.
Harmony Chidi 56th minute close range strike was cancelled out by Mariam Abdulrasheed 58th minute goal from the spot.
The Prosperity Girls will face Nasarawa Amazons in the next game as they search for their first win, while Abia Angels will trade tackles with Rivers Angels next.
