In preparation for the 2019 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered and trained about 5,493 adhoc officials to handle voting procedure at different polling units in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.
An INEC official who disclosed the figure said the Commission also distributes not less than 468,500 permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) on daily basis in the local government as people rush for the cards to beat the February 8 deadline.
The rush for the PVC collection grew intensive as the electorate were eager to make sure their votes count for their choice of parties and candidates during the elections.
The official who preferred anonymity told Echonews that on Tuesday February 5, 103 cards had been distributed by 11am, while the trend continued.
Echonews also gathered that the opportunity of Saturday and Sunday distribution of PVC was not utilized by people as 11 and 25 cards were collected respectively by the weekend.
