Despite having the highest number of registered voters, the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Lagos State is still making frantic efforts to lead other states across the nation in delivering the highest vote counts for its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

ECHONEWS gathered that the worry of the party is not about winning the election in Lagos State, but about winning with wider margin and surpassing all other states especially Kano and Kaduna.

To have a landslide victory for its presidential candidate, the party embarked in various strategies to canvass votes from the residents.

The Director General, Lagos APC-PCC Directorate of Religion Affairs, Chief Oyinlomo Danmole, told ECHONEWS that the party is targeting 4 million votes in Lagos State for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said the State being the home to Tinubu, must record highest vote counts that will surpass any other state.

“We are targeting at least 4 million votes in Lagos State. We must have the highest votes for our leader, the most qualified presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have about 7 million registered voters in Lagos but we know that everyone may not be chanced to vote and that is the reality. That is why we have pegged our score at 4 million at least.”

Danmole said the APC-PCC in Lagos has been working hitherto to make sure every potential voter in Lagos is sensitized and convinced to come out and vote during the election.

He stated that the campaign strategy this time around has to take different dimension, saying the party deployed door-to-door campaign strategy, meeting individuals in their abodes rather than flying ceremonious rallies across the state.

Danmole, the former Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs said: “Apart from this, the APC-PCC Directorate of Religion Affairs headed by me has met with religious leaders of three faiths – Islamic, Christian and Traditional worshipers. We engaged them to seek their supports and they all responded well. We are very sure that we have the whole Lagos State when it is time to vote.

“In addition to that, the party has coordinators and canvassers in each Ward and polling units. With all these efforts we are putting in place, we are sure of landslide victory not only in Lagos but across the country.

“The assignment given to us is to sensitize and engage the Christian and Muslim communities to call for their support and we have been doing that. We have series of other meetings. The first is to talk to the leadership -the religious leaders, bloc leaders, the local government coordinators and the NGOs.”

He added that the party is confident of their support but the meeting was also pertinent to ensure that Lagos is not distracted with National issues especially the Muslim-Muslim Sentiment.

On his own, the former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, who is the Chairman, Lagos State APC-PCC Media and Publicity Committee, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan said the party in Lagos State is working toward delivering 7.1 million votes for Tinubu.

According to him, in the area of publicity, his committee has engaged various social media influencers, on air personalities, content creators and media practitioners both in the new media and traditional media who handle different segments of the media to propagate news about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In the last two months, in respect to the decision of the APC-PCC Media and Publicity Committee, we decentralised the operation to the state so that we can rake the communication to the grassroots. And in Lagos State, we thanks God, we have been charged with that responsibility. We deviced strategies and recognised the peculiarity of Lagos State, the demographics, the media infrastructure, the media landscape and media architecture and used our media to better develop more effective communications to the voters at the grassroots to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria. Our volunteers are working seriously. So, we are calling our people to go and get their PVCs a new history is about to take place on February 25, 2023. As our own committee is working in Lagos, another committee is working in other states.”
