A resident of Victoria Island, Lagos, Mrs. Marbel Okafor, has reportedly died after she was allegedly attacked by a security guard employed at her residence barely two weeks earlier.

The incident reportedly occurred on August 16, 2026, after the security personnel, identified as Abdul Latiff, allegedly attacked Okafor and stabbed her multiple times.

According to accounts circulating about the incident, a neighbour was alerted after hearing Okafor calling out to her security guard and went to check what was happening.

The security guard allegedly told the neighbour that his employer was frightened by cockroaches, claiming that this was the reason for her screams.

He was subsequently alleged to have entered Okafor’s room and taken three of her mobile phones, N10,000 in cash and other valuables before fleeing the area in a vehicle.

Reports circulating about the incident said Latiff travelled to Jalingo, Taraba State, which was reportedly his hometown.

After neighbours later discovered that Okafor had died, the matter was reported to the police, who reportedly began efforts to locate the security guard.

Latiff was subsequently traced to Taraba State and arrested, according to the account.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged killing and the motive for the attack remain subject to police investigation.

The reported incident has also raised concerns about security arrangements and the need for proper background checks when employing domestic and residential security personnel.

Mrs. Marbel Okafor is survived by her family, while the police investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and determine whether the suspect will be prosecuted.

The allegations against Latiff remain allegations unless established by a court of law.
