Damilola Olayemi, widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has agreed to have her husband buried at his family home in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a disagreement with his family over his final resting place.

The development was disclosed by the singer’s close associate and colleague, Lanre Alewilese, in an Instagram video on Sunday.

The disagreement reportedly began after the singer’s family alleged in a viral online interview that Olayemi opposed plans to bury her husband at their Ibadan residence and preferred that he be laid to rest in a cemetery.

Toluwanisings’ father had reportedly insisted that his son’s remains should be taken to his hometown and buried near his late mother if he could not be buried at the Ibadan residence.

The disagreement sparked reactions on social media, with some users questioning the widow’s position and calling for an investigation into the singer’s death.

However, speaking amid the controversy, Alewilese described the dispute between the widow and her father-in-law as a misunderstanding, adding that both parties had now reached an agreement.

He also appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking Olayemi, noting that she was dealing with the loss of her husband.

“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this.

“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house.

“Please, Nigerians, let there be peace. If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved,” he said.
