A man identified as Charles Chinonso is facing trial over allegations of sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl.
Chinonso was arraigned at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday and thereafter remanded at the Awarijigoh Correctional Centre for further prosecution.
The defendant, 35-year-old, was accused of commiting the crime on July 2023 at N0 223, Alubarika Street in Ajangbadi area of Ojo, Lagos, as submitted by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun.
Adeosun said that the litigant is facing a two-count-charge of sexual assault and breach of peace.
The Prosecutor told the court: “The defendant touched the girl’s private part without her consent. He also threatened to kill the girl if she revealed his criminal act to people.
“The offences contravened Sections 265, 263 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
The court ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
The matter is to be revisited at the court on January 29, 2025.
