Shammeh refuses to recognize APC party executives, insists on “No congress in Isolo” mantra

By Abolaji Adebayo

The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamusudeen Abiodun Olaleye, has insited that there was no election during the last APC Ward/Local Government Congress held on May 5th and 12th 2018, claiming that the acclaimed elected Local Government Party Executive led by Barr. Gani Bello should not be recognized.

According him, the congresses were marred with violence due to political rivalry among various factional groups, disenfranchising many party members and as a result, any new party executive should be seen as illegal.

Olaleye, who noted that Bello has been trying to reconcile the aggrieved factional group members, urged them not to succumb to Bello’s plea, saying his leadership would not be reckoned with until the matter is settled at the state level.

He stated, “We have been reliably informed that letters have been sent out to some of our members soliciting for their support and recognition of the illegal Local Government Party Executives led by Barr. Gani Bello, who is reportedly urging his unrecognized and illegal ward chairmen to do same in their respective ward.

“We therefore urge our esteemed members not to collect such letter from whomsoever to avoid being confused and misled into recognizing them as party executives at the LGA and ward levels in Isolo LCDA.

“No amount of persuasion should deceive you into believing them. They are not our authentic party executive officers and therefore you should not believe them.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we maintain our position that there was no party congress held on the 5th and 12th of May 2018. We have since submitted petitions to the party hierarchy to that effect and we have gotten the assurance of the new state executives of the party that the petition is receiving attention and the matter would be resolved soon.

“As stakeholders and loyal members of the party, we stand by that decision and take solace in the fact millions of lies and thousands of mischief no matter how they are conceited would never alter destiny. Arm-twisting, hoodwinking, perversion and all manners of undemocratic tendencies cannot surmount the will of the people of Isolo LCDA.

“Suffice to state here that the purported swearing-in of Barr. Gani Bello at the ACME Road party secretariat was an aberration and rape on justice, equity and fairness which the new state executives is bent to correct. While we are aware of moves to call leaders and elders of the party to resolve the impasse, we implore our members to remain calm and keep faith with the struggle. The race of life is not about the strongest or the weakest but by providence, this much we believe and uphold.”
