The rehabilitation of Raji Street in Mafoluku Oshodi, one of the projects recommended by the councillors under the State Governor’s Ward Projects Scheme, has commenced with drainage construction in earnest. .

The drainage construction has been done up to 70 percent level on the 120 meters street as the work is expected to move to the next phase of road reconstruction.

The councilor representing Mafoluku Ward, Hon. Bukola Lawal, who presented the project under the scheme, expressed her satisfaction on the job done so far, saying she is monitoring the project to make sure the engineers in charge of the project do a quality job.

Although the residents of the street are affected by the ongoing construction work as many could not drive in and out of the street, they declared their cooperation with the workers as they commended the governor for fulfilling his promise and expediting the project.

“Vehicles can’t ply the street nor go into the houses on the street for now until the whole process is completed and residents are expected to bear with the development that will be enjoyed by all community members in the long run.

“We all chose this project under the scheme as one of the challenges we face in this community. Before arriving at this, all the stakeholders in the ward came together, deliberated on various challenges and unanimously chose the rehabilitation of this street.

“We appreciate the state governor for fulfilling his promise under the scheme on time. If you look at Oshodi generally, if we discover that road rehabilitation is the common project chosen across the wards. Our local government authority has been doing greatly in terms of infrastructural development, we all chose road because that is our major challenge,” Lawal said.

She promised that the road would be maintained by the community, hence the thorough supervision to make sure a quality job is done.
