Sanwo-Olu Reduces BRT Fare in Lagos by 50 percent

Barely a week that the Echonews reported the demands of Lagos residents over the removal of fuel subsidy and its attendant pains, the state government has responded by reducing the transport  fare  on BRT and Lagos Ride.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that there will be discounts and reduction on bus fares starting form Wednesday.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Jubril Gawat, made this known via his Twitter handle on Monday.

This include Bus Rapid Transit and other Lagos shuttle cars, Lagos Ride.

The Governor said, “Immediately from Wednesday, all public transportation that are been controlled by LAMATA and all the high-capacity buses will be plying all the routes of Lagos at 50% discount.

‘’All commuters that will be plying on these roads will start enjoying the 50% rebate on the current transport fare that are currently been charged on all of these buses at least will start immediately from Wednesday.

‘’It cannot start tomorrow because they need to do a lot of configurations, they need to do all of their validations so that that can happen from Wednesday. That decision has been taken and communicated with them.

“For the informal buses, they are also going to make a pronouncement today and if I dare and can say to you that and also agreed with them that they would be doing about 25% deduction on their buses, all of the yellow buses that we have on the streets and they will make also make a formal announcement maybe later today. That can take effect from tomorrow or latest on Wednesday as I mentioned. They are also having their meeting right now as we speak…”
