Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has strongly condemned the vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge and directed security agencies to track down those responsible.

In a statement released after the incident, the Governor described the attack as barbaric and criminal, declaring that Lagos would not tolerate such acts against public infrastructure.

“Lagos will not tolerate any act of vandalism because it is barbaric and criminal,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said. He added that officials from the Office of Infrastructure had inspected the bridge and confirmed that its structural integrity remains intact. Remedial work, he noted, would begin immediately to protect the columns.

The Governor warned that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law. He stressed that Lagos has no place for violence against critical infrastructure and other public facilities.

Calling on residents to play their part, Mr Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to remain vigilant and help protect public assets from senseless attacks. The swift inspection and promised repairs signal the administration’s determination to restore and secure the bridge without delay.
