Sanwo-Olu Inspects Facilities Ahead Of National Intermediate Games, Declares Lagos Ready

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed satisfaction with the progress of rehabilitation works at Teslim Balogun Stadium and other sports facilities as the state prepares to host the inaugural National Intermediate Games.

The governor conducted an inspection of the ongoing projects on Saturday and said he was pleased with the developments so far.

“As Lagos gets ready to host the inaugural National Intermediate Games, I took time today to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation at Teslim Balogun Stadium and other sports facilities. I am pleased with the progress so far,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He noted that the natural grass pitch at the stadium has been completed, while work on the new tartan track is expected to be finished in the coming weeks. Indoor halls, swimming pools and other facilities are also being upgraded to accommodate the thousands of young athletes expected from across the country.

The governor linked the current preparations to a broader three-year effort to rebuild sports centres across the state.

“For the past three years, we have been rebuilding sports centres across Surulere, Ikorodu, Epe, Agege and Badagry, because our young people deserve quality facilities close to home. We want them to discover their talents, compete with confidence and see a future for themselves in sports right here in Nigeria,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu affirmed that Lagos is fully prepared for the games and looks forward to hosting the next generation of Nigerian athletes.

“Lagos is ready and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of Nigerian athletes.”
