RMD’s Grand Romantic Gesture: Actor Says Wife Got His First ₦100 Million Cheque
Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has revealed that he handed over the first ₦100 million cheque he ever received to his wife, Jumobi, as a gift.
The 65-year-old actor made the revelation during an interview on The Morayo Show, where he described himself as an “incurable romantic” who enjoys spoiling his wife because gift-giving is her love language.
According to RMD, when he received the landmark cheque, he immediately instructed his manager to deliver it to his wife.
“The first biggest cheque I ever received was for ₦100 million. When it was presented to me, I told my manager to give it to my wife. When she got it, she asked if I wanted her to keep it for the children. I told her no, that she should keep it for herself and do whatever she wanted with it,” he said.
RMD explained that he wasn’t worried because he knew most of the money would eventually be spent on their children.
He added that he takes pride in ensuring his wife never has to ask him for anything, saying he always gives her the biggest and best things he owns.
“I’m an incurable romantic. These days, it isn’t about flowers and chocolates anymore because ladies like money. I like giving my wife the biggest things I have so she never has to ask for anything. All the big and beautiful things in the house are hers,” he said.
RMD married former television presenter Jumobi in 2000, four years after the death of his first wife, May Ellen Ezekiel. The couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in December 2025 and have two children together, while RMD has four children in total.
