Residents’ complaints over deteriorating roads, landfill infrastructure and waste truck activities have prompted the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to begin measures aimed at addressing challenges around the Ewu-Elepe Landfill in Ikorodu.

The intervention followed an engagement between LAWMA and residents of Elepe and Elenuwa communities, where the host communities highlighted concerns affecting their environment and access to the landfill.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, who led the engagement, assured residents that the authority had taken note of their concerns and would work with them to address the challenges.

He disclosed that permanent construction of the access roads was planned, while palliative works would be carried out in the interim to provide relief for residents and road users.
