As part of effort to curb the flood ravaging the community, a philanthropist, Hon. Mrs. Abimbola Tijani Oladokun has filled up the potholes on Kasimawo Tijani Close, along 7/8 Airport Junction, Mafoluku Oshodi, to avert the flood.

Oladokun said she ordered for 15 trucks of broken blocks to cover up the frontage axis of the street which always got water,- logged after rainfalls to aid easy movement and re-direct the flood.

Her words: “The stagnant water is increasing by the day due to the heavy rainfalls and we are losing our environment to stagnant pool which makes movement difficult in the community.

“We have two canoes, free of charge to help us in such situations. I made one and the other from the community people to help movement of community members whenever we find ourselves in this condition.”

“The cause of the constant flood in the vicinity was traced to the blockage of the big drainage like mini canal along the street during the Airport road reconstruction works and since then, no more channel for water to flow out after the rain.

“However, the community members requested for the drainage to be reopened by the road contractors but their request was not granted.”

She therefore pleaded for state government’s intervention to order the contractors to open the drainage to totally control the flood out of the community.
