Police Arrest 36-Year-Old Suspected Cultist With Pistol, Axe in Ikorodu

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, Muyideen Olatunbosun, who it described as a suspected cultist, during an intelligence-led anti-crime patrol in Ikorodu.

The police said operatives arrested Olatunbosun around the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu, Lagos, following information received during the patrol.

A search conducted on the suspect allegedly led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, criminal charms and an illicit substance popularly known as “Ice”.

The command said the operation formed part of its ongoing efforts to tackle cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.

“The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Efforts are also ongoing to apprehend other members of his alleged cult group,” the command said in a statement.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to credible information.

Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations against cultism and other forms of criminality across the state.

He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police through the command’s emergency lines.

The police said efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the suspect’s alleged cult group were ongoing.
