In response to the complaints of the concerned residents of Ishaga community on the nature of the ongoing drainage construction, the Secretary to the Local Government, Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Emmanuel Olojede has said that the perfection of the project lies in its completion.

Speaking with ECHONEWS, Olojede noted that the drainage being constructed by the council chairman, Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye along Igbogila/Iboro/Ibiyemi Oje Streets, Ishagatedo was designed based on the nature of houses in the area.

Some of the residents had complained that the ongoing project is not the conceived form of development the community yearned for.

One of the residents of the community, Lateef Aina, said: “DIgging the gutter far below ground surface is what we expected of them but it surprises us that it looks much as if they’re molding the drainage. Recently when the rain fell, we experienced great flooding to the extent that the water flew into our individual houses, something that has never happened before.

“The construction of the gutter needs to be adjusted in order to serve the purpose of which it is designed.

However, Olojede assured that when completed, the over 100m drainage would be a perfect one with good quality to withstand the flood that affected the community.

He said: “The perfection of the drainage lies in its 100% completion. Due to the fact that there’s no plan for drainage in the community before, we’ve had to painstakingly made the construction so that people’s houses will not be tampered with and that’s why the construction looks like crisscross but our exact idea of how the drainage will be can’t be gotten until the drainage is 100% completed. I’ll only implore the residents to look forward to its completion.”
