Pastor Allegedly Steals Phones, Laptops, Faces Prosecution

A clergyman identified in court as Emmanuel Anthony has been apprehended over accusations of stealing phones and laptops.

32-year-old Anthony, who resides at Iwoye, Oju-Ore in Otta, Ogun State, is standing trial on unlawful invasion and theft.

At the court proceeding, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, said that the accused stole two i-phones and two laptops alongside N60,000 cash.

Odugbo mentioned that the gadgets which value the sum of N2,240,000 belong to one Chioma Okeke, the complainant.

He said: “The offences were committed on February 24, at No 7, Emmanuel Street, Abule Egba, Lagos.

“The defendant knew the complainant, Mrs Chioma Okeke, from the village. He went to the complainant:s house under the pretence of a visit.

“The complainant left him in the sitting room to get some food stuffs outside the house. Before she came back, the defendant invaded her room and carted away two laptops, two iPhones and a cash of N60, 000.

“The stolen items were valued at N2,240,000. The offences contravened Sections 287 and 308 of the Criminals Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till April 7.
