Our community is now flood free – Old Ewu, Ogunyika residents

Finally, the entire community of Old Ewu/Ogunyika has been relieved of the perennial flood as the residents appreciate the member of Lagos State House Assembly representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency I, Hon. Hakeem Shokunle, for facilitating the rehabilitation of road and drainage, making the community flood-free.

Unlike previous years, the community has not experienced flood during this rainy season.

The chairperson of Old Ewu/Ogunyinka Community Development Association (CDA), Mrs. Durotola Akinyemi who was visibly elated, confirmed to ECHONEWS that the community has not witnessed any flood since the rainy season began saying the drainage was well constructed to contain the flood.

According to her, though the construction is still ongoing, the community is now free from flood, adding that residents no longer resort to the use of canoe or rain boots to move in and out.

She informed that the community members have cleared the drainage to allow the engineers on-site to break the interception disturbing the flow of water.

The engineers working on the project said the first wing of the drainage is almost completed and that work would commence on the other section this week.

They said they are not disturbed by the rains and that the job will continue after the rains to ensure that the drainage is completed in due time.
