Osondu Martins Explains Concept, Mechanisms of Rising Stars Football League

The chairman of Badagry Divisional Football Association (BDFA), Dr Osondu Martins has explained the process of the Rising Stars Football League (RSFL).

Osondu said the RSFL is the biggest football event he will handling as the head of the BDFA, while looking at the number of teams that will participate in the competition.

He said there are mouthwatering prices for the teams while the winner takes home a whopping 11 million naira as the league will be played under the right security and no room for indiscipline will be tolerated.

“Rising Stars Football League is one the biggest league I have ever come across as Badagry Divisional FA chairman. It’s a project we need to hold for ourselves. We have over 96 teams that will participate in the tournament from different parts of Lagos and the number of teams was picked due to the concept of the competition.

“From 96 teams, we get the first knockout to 48, then the next knockout will be to 24 while the last knockout teams of 12 will now play the League proper with mouthwatering prices and the winner goes home with 11 million.

“The league would be played under tight security and all matches would be played in various venues in Badagry division.We purposely select some army barracks for venues as part of our security strategies so we are waiting to see any club misbehave during and after the match,such club would be severely punished.”
