The action of the church group was in lieu of the recent activity of the presidency who have begun public awareness about the danger of societal vices amongst youth in the country.

Recall that, the senior special assistant to the president on students engagement, Sunday Asefon last March set up a committee to curb social vices in tertiary institutions.

The vice president of the Royal Ambassador, Counsellor ThankGod Odekunle said the purpose of the campaign was to sensitise young boys between 10-24 years of the dangers of drug abuse and other societal vices.

“After a deliberate study of the environment- Badore and with the presence of 165 boys and men, we were able to share tracts as well as use words of mouth, specifically focusing on the imminent vices that needed to be curbed and eradicated across all age groups.

“Our provision of relevant and important talking points tackled the various challenges causing decadence to our society like betting, bribery and corruption, thuggery and domestic violence to mention a few whilst reminding everyone of ways to end it.”

The aim was to tackle negative influence within youths. The director of the Royal Ambassador, Counsellor Atoyebi Olatunde said the public campaign was to let the youth in the vicinity see the effect caused by negative influence and impose strong moral training.

“This year’s Royal Ambassadors rally tackles critical issues threatening our youth. By equipping them with faith-based values and a strong moral compass, we empower them to say no to domestic violence, drug abuse, gambling, and exam malpractice. Together, we build a future where young Nigerians make positive choices, shaping a brighter tomorrow.”

Counsellor Odekunle added that sensitisation within the community will continue after the event to promote abstinence of societal vices.

“Apart from the physical campaign which we just held, we will be launching an online edition across social media especially because we are a gathering of young males who believe in the evolving world.

“Aside from that, we will also be taking it to schools. Information about this will come up soon.”

According one of the participants, Emmanuel Afolayan, he said the event was timely due to the numerous expulsion of youths to several illicit information.
