Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede Bello (OBE), has made a generous donation of N1,000,000 towards the construction of the Great Club of Ejigbo Clubhouse.
The club, which held its inaugural meeting on March 9, 1997, at Ritz Restaurant Omiyale Street Ejigbo Lagos, has been actively seeking a permanent site for their clubhouse, with a fundraising goal of N50 million.
OBE presented the donation during the club’s annual Thanksgiving/Get-together event on January 25th, 2025, demonstrating his commitment to fostering a strong sense of community within Ejigbo.
The proposed clubhouse aims to serve as a hub for residents from all walks of life to gather, discuss local matters, and enjoy a welcoming environment.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Kadiri, the current President of the club and its first social secretary, praised the Ejigbo council boss for his exceptional leadership and dedication to improving the local community.
Kadiri commended Bello’s single-handed construction of a school and recognized him as one of the top-performing local government chairmen in Nigeria.
Additionally, Kadiri expressed gratitude for the extensive road construction and rehabilitation efforts undertaken by the OBE-led government, emphasizing the positive impact of these initiatives on Ejigbo’s residents.
The Club President encouraged residents of the community to join the Great Club of Ejigbo, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective action in achieving the club’s goals.
He highlighted the positive impact of his administration’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and other essential amenities, and how this progress would contribute to the club’s mission.
Addressing misconceptions about the club’s exclusivity, the President of the club clarified that the Great Club of Ejigbo is open to everyone and aims to bring residents together to address local issues.
He acknowledged that poor road conditions had previously hindered membership growth and participation but assured that recent road rehabilitation efforts had improved accessibility for all community members.
Over the years, the Great Club of Ejigbo has demonstrated a strong commitment to community development and social impact.
By supporting the creation and growth of Community Development Associations (CDAs), the club has played a vital role in addressing local concerns and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
The club has also collaborated with the local government to rehabilitate and construct roads, while actively participating in efforts to improve security and tackle crime.
In addition, members of the club have joined forces with other organizations to advocate for residents’ rights and improve essential services. One notable achievement has been the push for stable electricity supply within the community.
In closing, Alhaji Kaidir urged residents to embrace unity and collaboration, emphasizing that working together would be the key to making Ejigbo a thriving and prosperous community for all its residents.
Highlights of the annual Thanksgiving/Get-together was the outpouring of support and generosity from the community where embers of the club, residents, political leaders, and well-wishers came together to contribute towards the ambitious N50 million fundraising goal for the construction of a permanent clubhouse.
The event attracted a distinguished crowd, including dignitaries from the local government, Ejigbo residents, and members of the Ejigbo Club. Notable attendees included EMERITUS President Ch.
