NPFL: Ikorodu City, Sporting Lagos Share Spoils In Lagos Derby

Ikorodu City and Sporting Lagos played out a goalless draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter on Wednesday, September 30 as both sides settled for a point apiece in a keenly contested derby.

The Matchday 2 fixture, played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan saw neither side find the breakthrough despite chances at both ends.

Ikorodu City appeared the more threatening side in front of goal, registering 15 shots, including six on target, compared with Sporting Lagos six attempts and three efforts on target. Sporting, however, enjoyed slightly more possession at 51 per cent to Ikorodu City’s 49 per cent.

Despite the attacking efforts from both teams, the first half ended without a goal, and the deadlock remained intact after the interval.

The goalless draw leaves both teams sharing the points as the 2026/27 NPFL campaign continues, with Ikorodu City currently listed seventh with nine points from six matches and Sporting Lagos 12th in the league standings with eight points from six games.
