“No Record of Meningitis in Isolo” …. PRO- I.G.H.

Meningitis, an acute inflammation of the protective membranes that covers the Brain and Spinal Cord, known collectively as Meninges.
A common disease in the northern part of Nigeria, is now spreading beyond the northern region. Main cause, is migration from the north to the southern part of the country.
In a brief interview with the Public Relation Officer of Isolo General Hospital, ECHONEWS gathered, that there has been no known case or record of the disease in Lagos state, particularly in Isolo.
The P.R.O said the state government is taking all proactive measures against the disease and is on the watch out for the disease across the state.
Advocating precaution, she implores residents to be on the lookout for the fast spreading disease and maintain proper personal hygiene. Stressing preventive measure as the best precautions, she urged residents to air-out their homes, clear out things that could blackout free flow of ventilation and maintain environmental hygiene.
Common symptoms of the disease are Fever, Headache and Neck stiffness. Other symptoms include Confusion or altered Consciousness, Vomiting, and an inability to tolerate light or loud noises.
Young children often exhibit only nonspecific symptoms, such as irritability, drowsiness, or poor feeding but early reporting of any of the following symptoms will prevent further damage to health of the patient.
