No excuse to remain uneducated – Educationist warns

An educationist, Comr. AbdulGaniu Salaudeen has declared that no resident of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has reason to remain uneducated as the Ansar-ud-Deen Junior High School, Okota, has been accredited as a Continuing Education Centre.

 

Salaudeen, a teacher in the school, while speaking with our correspondent established that the programme which is meant for school-age students and adults to access quality education has been extended to Ansar-Ud-Deen Junior High School, Okota, adding to the existing four schools accredited for running the programme in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.

He said the accreditation of the school for the programme was done to capture and encourage adult education in the community and state at large.

 

“The programme is under Lagos State Agency for Mass Literacy Education. It covers both adult class and school-age students who do not have the opportunity to be in school in the usual time due to one reason or the other.

“The programme is like a usual school programme; the teaching commences after normal school hours and ends at 6:30pm. It enables students of any age, tribe, category to have access to education and at the completion of the programme, they are qualified to seat for Lagos State Assessment Exam into any public school of their choice or continue the programme up to Senior Secondary School 3 where they can write General Certificate Examination (GCE), West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), etc.”

 

He reiterated that the major aim is to make sure everyone gets access to education and help eliminate adult illiteracy, stressing that no one has reason to be uneducated.

 

He disclosed that more than 100 people have enrolled for the programme which started in Okota Grammar School in 2017/2018 session.
