The loading of the first batch of petrol commenced on Sunday at the Dangote Refinery, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s domestic fuel production.

The announcement was made via the refinery’s official X account, @DangoteGroup, accompanied by video evidence.

The company stated, “HAPPENING NOW: First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.”

In a related development, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reported on Saturday that over 300 trucks had arrived at the Dangote Refinery to load petrol. This marks the first time in years that locally produced petrol will be loaded in Nigeria.

Previously, it was reported that NNPCL, through its Executive Vice President (Downstream), Dapo Segun, denied allegations of frustrating the Dangote Refinery. Segun clarified, “NNPC has gone out of its way to support the Dangote refinery, which is what everyone should expect a shareholder to do. When people talk about delaying crude supply, they forget that it is a business transaction.”

He emphasized the importance of adhering to terms and conditions in business transactions, especially in the global refined products trading industry, stating, “There are conditions to be met. If those conditions are not met, it is normal to wait until they are met before you can release the cargo.”
