Nigeria forward, Gift Monday has taken another step in her professional career after being presented as a Boston Legacy FC player following her departure from Washington Spirit.

The 24-year-old Nigerian has committed to the Boston-based side until 2031, having agreed to a five-year deal. She will feature in the number 22 shirt as she prepares for a fresh challenge in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The transfer, announced by Boston Legacy FC on October 6, reportedly cost the club $500,000, with Washington Spirit also securing a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement.

Monday leaves Washington after making a strong impression during her spell with the club, having arrived from Spanish outfit UD Tenerife in March 2025.

One of her most memorable performances came in September of the same year when she scored three times against Houston Dash in just 35 minutes and 52 seconds. The feat earned her a place in the NWSL record books for the quickest hat-trick scored from kick-off.

Her contribution to Washington Spirit included 12 goals and three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, underlining her growing influence at the highest level of American women’s football.

Monday’s journey to the United States began in Nigeria, where she represented COD United Amazons, FC Robo and Bayelsa Queens before moving to Spain to continue her development.

Boston Legacy FC presents the Nigerian international with an opportunity to build on her progress in the NWSL and further strengthen her reputation as an attacking threat.
