NEC Postpones Governorship, House of Assembly Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed the Saturday, March 11 governorship and house of assembly elections by one week.

The elections will now hold on March 18 to allow INEC perfect the use of BVAS machine.

Recall that court just granted INEC the authority to synchronise the machine ahead of the Saturday election.

However, at a meeting held in Abuja this evening by the INEC top officials, it was resolved that the election be postponed.

A source told our correspondent that a statement would be issued to officially affirm the postponement.

The source said, ‘ I can confirm that Saturday’ Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections have been postponed to enable INEC reconfigure the over 176,000 BVAS machines..A meeting of top INEC management just ended.
An official statement to this effect will be issued shortly .”
