Mushin Free Health Screens Scores of Hypertensive Patients

Following the implementation of a free health screening initiative by Mushin Local Government, an alarming number of hypertensive patients were discovered, raising concerns about the prevalence of the condition among the community and staff members.
The health screening program, designed to evaluate the overall health status of residents and employees, uncovered a worrying trend in the incidence of hypertension, underscoring the importance of preventative health measures and early detection.
A review of the July edition of the free health outreach and screening conducted by the Mushin Local Government’s medical team, as well as the recent staff screening exercise, revealed a disturbing trend of high blood pressure cases among the screened patients.
The Mushin Local Government Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Bamigboye, has consistently underscored the significance of promoting health and wellness among the community and council staff, emphasizing the importance of preventive health measures and disease prevention.
The monthly free medical services, which are rotated across Mushin’s various wards and communities, have proven to be an effective approach in curbing the frequency of untimely deaths caused by undiagnosed and untreated health conditions.
Chairman Bamigboye, concerned about the health and well-being of the residents and council employees, has taken several steps to address the rising cases of hypertension.
The monthly free healthcare services for the people of Mushin and public servants have really kept the people aware of their health status.
At the medical outreach conducted for the residents of Alasalatu community, 48 cases of people living with High Blood pressure were treated while another 48 Malaria patients were also treated and administered with medications. Only few patients were diagnosed of high blood sugar while 53 patients with various minor ailments were treated and given medications.
At the screening exercise for public servants which took place at the council secretariat on Monday July 22, the Vice Chairman – Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, who led the delegation of political office holders and management staff, took time to undergo the screening from one section to another. He also advised all members of staff to take advantage of the programme for their well-being.

– Cervical Cancer Screening
– Provision of Essential Drugs
– Blood Sugar check
– HIV Screening
After the screening, patients were given medications, free eye glasses while those with special cases were referred to General Hospital for further treatments.
