Motorcyclist Killed in Tipper Crash at Ilasa Bus Stop, Mile 2

A yet-to-be-identified man has been killed after a sand-laden tipper truck reportedly rammed into a motorcycle at Ilasa Bus Stop, inward Mile 2, Lagos State.
The crash occurred at about 3:18 p.m. and involved a tipper truck with registration number 19F 992FG and a motorcycle, according to the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
Oke-Osanyintolu said LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team stationed at Cappa was mobilised to the scene following a distress call and arrived about 15 minutes later.
A preliminary assessment indicated that the tipper driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle before it struck the motorcycle from behind.
The impact left an adult male passenger on the motorcycle with fatal injuries.
“Tragically, an adult male passenger on the motorcycle lost his life as a result of the collision,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
LASEMA responders, alongside paramedics from the agency’s Lagos Response Unit, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the police, took control of the scene and commenced emergency operations.
The deceased’s remains were recovered by LASEMA personnel and placed in a body bag before being handed over to family members who were present at the scene.
The damaged tipper truck and motorcycle were subsequently removed from the road and taken to Ilasamaja Police Station to support further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The emergency operation was later concluded, with normal traffic flow restored in the area.
Oke-Osanyintolu expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists, particularly operators of articulated vehicles, to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations.
