Media mogul Mo Abudu has said she is no longer at a stage in life where she would allow heartbreak over a man to affect her, adding that if she ever cries, it would be because of work rather than a relationship.

The 62-year-old made the remarks during an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, where she shared her views on relationships, self-worth and the need for women to recognise when a partner is no longer interested.

“Heartbreak. Nobody can break my heart. It’s not possible. Heartbreak. There’s no such thing as heartbreak at my age. If I cry, it’s not because of a man. It may be because of my work,” she said.

Abudu also advised women against trying to force a man to remain in a relationship he no longer wants, saying they should recognise the signs and move on rather than compromise their self-worth.

“Listen, you cannot make a man be in a relationship with you. If he wants to be, he will. If he doesn’t want to be in it, he’s kidding you. Leave him. Move on. He doesn’t want to be there,” she said.

She urged young women not to lower their standards or continue investing emotionally in relationships where they feel unwanted or deceived.

“You have to get over it, because you need to read the writing, guys. It is easy. Because don’t downgrade yourself in front of anybody. And to young girls, don’t downgrade yourself,” she said.

Abudu further warned women against ignoring signs of dishonesty or disinterest from their partners, including prolonged silence and repeated excuses.

“You know in your gut that he’s messing around. True. Because he hasn’t called you for two weeks. He’s ghosting you. He’s telling you he’s busy doing what? Chasing somebody else,” she said.

She encouraged women to walk away from partners who consistently make them feel unwanted, stressing that they should not remain in relationships simply because they fear losing someone.

“If you see those kinds of people, leave them alone. Those types of people don’t want you. Please, ladies,” she added.

Her comments have added to ongoing conversations about relationship boundaries, emotional well-being and self-worth, particularly among young women navigating dating and romantic relationships.
