Man gets six months jail term for stealing church’s megaphone

The Magistrates Court, Isolo has sentenced a convict to prison over the theft of a megaphone belonging to a Church
The defendant, 28 year old Chibuike Sunday, was alleged to have made way into God’s Mountain Biblical Church, Mile 2 for deliverance and after the deliverance session, he stole the megaphone valued at N15,000.
Sunday, who is a native of Ebonyi State told the court that he indulged in the theft act due to the hardship he faced as profits from his business wasn’t forthcoming.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Oje Ugbale, Sunday, was initially said to have stolen footwears at a shop in the same area as the church premises and realised the sum of N15,000.
Sunday pleaded guilty to both theft acts and pleaded for mercy from the court.
Ugbale noted at the court sitting held today that Sunday was a habitual criminal and asked the court to sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent.
The Presiding Magistrate, Olufunmilayo Teluwo, found Sunday guilty as charged and sentenced him to six months in jail without an option of fine.
