LJL Academy Fellows Begin Ministerial Internship

Fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy have been deployed in ministries as state governor’s assistants, a statement by the office of the Head of Service has confirmed.

A release signed by the immediate past Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola said the ffellowship offers a one-year Non-Partisan and Meritocratic Residential Programme that gives an opportunity for young Nigerians to acquire first-hand experience in the process of Governance.

It said they were posted to the ministries in the Public Service by shadowing Public Sector Leaders and thus get exposed to both Local and International Training and Development.

According to the statement, the Fellows are to act in the capacity of Special Assistants to the Governor during the Ministerial Placements which are also aimed at providing opportunities for Fellows to engage in roundtable discussions with Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies,  provide the Fellows with practical work experience in a specific field in the Public Service, help the Fellows develop new skills, build Professional Networks and gain insights in the day-to-day operations of the Public Service.

It added the Ministerial placements are designed to ultimately allow the Fellows to introduce new ideas in creativity/innovation into the State Public Service.

The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy is an initiative of the Lagos State Government under the guidance of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in honour of the leadership values of the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State – Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.

The Academy bears eloquent testimony to the resolve of Mr. Governor to engage the youths and harness their professional competence and leadership potential as stated in the THEMES Plus agenda of the current administration.
