Lekki Cinema Security Incident: LSFVCB Mourns Fallen Security Officer

The Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a security officer in a tragic incident at a cinema facility in Lekki, Lagos State.

The incident, which has cast a pall of sadness over the entertainment community, has left the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased mourning the loss of a man who was reportedly on duty when tragedy struck.

In a statement signed by its Executive Secretary/CEO, Mrs. Adebukola A. Agbaminoja, the Board extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, describing the loss as deeply painful.

The Board also expressed concern for another person who was injured in the incident, praying for a speedy and full recovery.

Beyond the immediate grief, the LSFVCB said the incident was a painful reminder of the responsibility of cinema operators and entertainment establishments to prioritise the safety and security of everyone within their facilities.

The Board urged cinema operators and other stakeholders across Lagos to continually review their security arrangements and emergency-response procedures, particularly in collaboration with relevant security agencies.

“While the relevant security agencies continue their investigations, the LSFVCB urged the public to remain calm and refrain from speculation or the circulation of unverified information,” the statement said.

The Board stressed that the safety and well-being of cinema patrons, employees and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry remain a priority.

As investigations continue, the LSFVCB said its thoughts and prayers remain with the family of the deceased, the injured victim and everyone affected by the tragic incident.

For a family that has lost a loved one, however, the tragedy goes beyond the headlines — it is a painful loss that will be felt long after the incident has faded from public attention.
