LASUTH Set To Offer Diploma Course In Hospital Management

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, is on the verge of offering an Advanced Professional Diploma Course in Hotel Management to enhance more proper upbringing on students and ensuring quality healthcare service.

The health institution after officially launching the new project said the idea of the program is to provide healthcare professionals with adequate skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

LASUTH Medical Director, Adetokunbo Fabanwo, stated during the project’s official inauguration ceremony held on Saturday that the diploma programme will see to the present condition which prevents graduates employed as hospital administrators from progressing beyond level 14 unless they acquire a professional diploma.

Fabanwo, hinting that the programme will aid healthcare administration expertise revealed that the health institution is excited looking at the fulfilment of its core mandate of a teaching hospital by continuously providing top-notch tertiary health services and rendering so many medical interventions.

He noted that the success achieved has driven LASUTH to focus on establishing relevant training institutions which according to him is one of the institution’s targets.

The institution’s MD, while assuring the pioneer students of quality facilitators who will take in the diploma training reminisced the success made by the health organization disclosing that the hospital has established five training schools : School of Anesthetic Technology, School of Orthopedic Cast Technology, School of Echocardiography, Caregiver Academy and the Institute of Advanced Professional Diploma in Hospital Administration and Management.

Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Olusegun Ogboye stated that the new project is in line with the strategic objective of the Lagos State Government in providing accessible as well as sustainable healthcare system in the society.

Ogboye disclosed that the new measure will aid a culture of continuous learning and improvement, as well as ensuring a foundation for a healthcare ecosystem that is resilient, responsive and capable of meeting the evolving needs of a diverse population.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pensions, Busola Abidakun, promised the support of the ministry to the institute.

She noted that the ministry has made a deliberation on activities in helping LASUTH stand firm.
