Lagos to prosecute 74 suspects over environmental violations

The Lagos State Government is set to prosecute 74 suspects accused of contravening the environmental laws in the area.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that the suspects were arrested during an enforcement exercise by the state’s Taskforce agency in Lekki axis of Lagos Island at about 1am on Tuesday.
Wahab mentioned that the Taskforce team raided Falomo Bridge, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Oniru Beach, Lekki Phase 1 and 2 and 1004 Estate where the suspects consisting of 72 men and two women were apprehended.
The Commissioner stated that the enforcement exercise was held to restore order and cleanliness in the affected locations.
While informing that the defaulters will be charged to court accordingly, Wahab urged the residents to comply with the state’s laws to ensure a habitable surrounding for all.
