Lagos Residents To Access Academic Certificate Authentication Online

Nigerians in Lagos seeking to evaluate or authenticate their academic certificates can now complete the process online, following the Federal Government’s full automation of the service.
The development is expected to make things easier for Lagos residents who previously had to make physical visits to the Federal Ministry of Education to process their academic credentials.
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, announced the development on Tuesday, describing it as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of education governance.
Under the new arrangement, applicants can now complete the entire academic credential evaluation and authentication process online through the ministry’s dedicated platform.
For graduates, students and professionals in Lagos who need authenticated certificates for employment, further education, travel or other official purposes, the new system is expected to reduce the stress and time associated with physical applications.
The ministry said applicants will no longer need to visit its offices physically for certificate evaluation and authentication, as requests and related procedures can now be handled digitally.
Alausa said the reform would help remove bureaucratic bottlenecks, reduce processing time and improve transparency, while also making the service more accessible to Nigerians living outside the country.
The minister said the move would also strengthen the credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification system by creating a structured process through which institutions, employers and other relevant bodies can verify academic qualifications.
“This initiative is a major step in our digital transformation agenda and demonstrates our commitment to using technology to modernise education governance and improve service delivery,” Alausa said.
For Lagos, where thousands of graduates and professionals regularly require academic documents for jobs, postgraduate studies and international opportunities, the online system could significantly reduce the need for applicants to travel or make repeated physical visits to government offices.
The minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to using technology to improve institutional efficiency and deliver more citizen-centred services.
The Federal Government has therefore urged applicants requiring academic credential evaluation or authentication to access the official platform and complete the required procedures online.
The new system is expected to make the process faster, more convenient and less stressful for applicants in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.
