The Lagos State Parastatals Monitoring Office, PMO, has solicited for a partnership with government agencies to bolster the state’s revenue drive.
The agency also stated that such coalition will contribute to further developments in the state.
The PMO gave the call during a Parastatals Revenue Generating Meeting, PARGEM, a quarterly hosted event held on Tuesday.
The two-day program, which had the presence of heads of parastatals, state’s agencies and government-owned companies, was anchored by the PMO Permanent Secretary, Adetutu Ososanya.
Ososanya, at the State Treasury Office Resource Centre, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja, where the event was held, stated that it is sacrosant for the PMO to have collaborations with other bodies to share experiences and work together as a team to move the state forward.
She said, “I want to say that, at this revenue meeting, we will not look at the revenue alone, but the possibility of improving our revenue from existing sources.
“We will explore new avenues of generating revenue and deploy technological measures to enhance the ease of doing business, as well as blockage of leakages”.
“This revenue meeting is not meant to rate the revenue performance of each of the parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies but to propel them to do better, identify impeding factors in their operations and find solutions to enhance performance.
“We all acknowledge the fact that without revenue, the whole essence of governance is lost. Therefore, it was meant for the government to continue to render services to the citizens by their expectations”, she stressed.
During the event, no fewer that 80 government parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies were assessed and were grouped according to their respective pillars under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
