The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has introduced QR codes to help eligible voters identify designated centres for collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos, Professor Ayobami Salami, disclosed this during a press conference at the commission’s state headquarters, urging eligible voters to collect their cards, verify their registration details and obtain election-related information from official sources.
According to INEC, the QR codes are available through its official website and social media platforms. Voters can scan the codes to access information about the designated centres where they can collect their PVCs.
Salami stressed the importance of increased voter participation as the commission intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He also urged residents to take advantage of the available information channels to confirm their registration details and avoid relying on unverified reports about the electoral process.
Beyond PVC collection, INEC disclosed that preparations were progressing in other critical areas, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, upgrades to election-result transmission systems, logistics arrangements, and the recruitment and training of electoral personnel.
The commission said the measures were intended to strengthen its operational capacity and support an orderly electoral process.
The introduction of QR codes is part of the Lagos office’s efforts to make voter information more accessible and encourage eligible residents to verify their registration details and collect their PVCs before election day.
INEC has continued to urge eligible voters to take the necessary steps ahead of the elections rather than wait until the last minute to resolve issues relating to their registration or PVC collection.
