Lagos DSVA Warns Against Child Abuse In Schools

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, has warned against child abuse in schools.
The DSVA sternly proclaimed that perpetrators of the unlawful act pupils will face prosecution.
The agency gave the warning following a report of a school teacher in Ikorodu, Lagos, Stella Nwadigbo, who was seen in a video repeatedly slapping a three-year-old pupil at Christ Mitots School in the area.
The DSVA stated that the assaulter has been arrested by officers of the Family Support Unit, FSU, in Owutu area of Ikorodu.
The agency, in a statement made on Wednesday, stated that the footage, which has gone viral, is raising concerns on safety and well-being of students in schools.
The statement reads, “We appreciate everyone who brought the disturbing incident of a teacher who was recorded physically abusing a 3-year-old boy to our attention.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and investigation has commenced in earnest.
The statement adds: “Indeed, institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care.
“The State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child by enforcing strict regulations, holding offenders accountable, and working with stakeholders to promote a zero-tolerance policy for abuse in any form.
