Mr Jude Nwankwo, President General Ladipo International Market disclosed the aim of spearheading a competition among traders in the Ladipo International Market, which he says is to spot football talents in the market among traders and to foster unity among traders in the market.

Nwankwo noted how injury cut short his own football career as he represented Nigeria at the U17 World cup in Japan, in 1993. Which made him venture into the spare parts business at Ladipo International Market.

“I was once a footballer but I couldn’t go far in it due to injury and I represented Nigeria at the U17 world cup in Japan 1993, which made me to venture into sales of spare parts at Ladipo International Market.

“Since the history of Ladipo International Market, I noticed that there was no sport competition between the traders in the market, so since I was elected the president, I decided to organize a football competition to bring traders in the market together and foster unity among them.

“There are so many talents in Ladipo market despite the present situation of the country and if you don’t have a someone to sponsor you in football, you can’t go further and I decided to bring this unity cup out for people to know that traders in Ladipo market are also talented in football and by the grace of God, some players will be sponsored outside the country to continue their career.

“I am really pleased and satisfied with the number of talents that I have seen so far in the tournament and I pray, they become successful in their career.”
