K1 Brokers Peace Between MC Oluomo, Tafa Sego After Years-Long NURTW Rift
Fuji music star, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has brokered a peace deal between National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, and Lagos State Chairman, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Tafa Sego.
The reconciliation took place at Kwam 1’s Ojusagbola residence in Ijebu, Ogun State, where the two union leaders were seen embracing in photographs shared on the musician’s official Instagram page on Tuesday.
Kwam 1 said he intervened in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland to help end the longstanding disagreement between the two former allies.
According to the statement accompanying the photographs, the meeting was intended to achieve a lasting reconciliation.
“After years of an age-long rift, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego have finally settled their differences. And from what we know now, this is final.”
The statement added that the meeting was more than a ceremonial handshake, as both men reportedly expressed satisfaction with the resolution.
The disagreement between MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego dates back several years and has been linked to struggles over leadership and control of NURTW operations in Lagos.
In January 2019, MC Oluomo was stabbed during a violent clash involving supporters of the two men at an APC campaign rally in Ikeja. He was subsequently hospitalised, while police declared Tafa Sego wanted in connection with the incident.
Tafa Sego was later appointed to the Lagos NURTW caretaker committee headed by MC Oluomo in September 2019.
Tensions resurfaced in January 2024 over the control of the union’s operations in Lagos, eventually leading to MC Oluomo’s resignation as state chairman following interventions by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other officials.
The disagreement flared again on January 2, 2026, during Kwam 1’s New Year All-White Party in Lagos after the musician publicly acknowledged MC Oluomo as the national leader of the NURTW.
The incident disrupted the event and prompted Kwam 1 to appeal to the two camps to sheathe their swords.
The latest meeting in Ijebu now signals a fresh attempt to bring the two NURTW heavyweights together after years of disagreement.
