Judgment Day In The Showtime Bowl Series XIII: Rebels Look to Slay Knights, Warriors Aim To Hold Off Panthers
By Saheed Afolabi
The Showtime Arena will be electric tonight as the Showtime Bowl Series XIII semifinal second legs decide which two teams will punch their tickets to the Super Bowl on December 21.
Lagos Rebels vs Lagos Athletic Knights
The Rebels delivered the upset of the season in the first leg, stunning the previously unbeaten Knights 25–21 on their own turf. That result ended Lagos Athletic’s perfect nine-game regular season and flipped the script heading into tonight. The Knights, who had looked untouchable all year, now need a victory by at least five points to reach the Super Bowl. Anything less, and the Rebels riding the high of their historic win will become the first expansion-era team to crash the big game.

In the other tie, the Warriors produced one of the comebacks of the year. Down 6–21 at the half, they stormed back with 19 straight points to steal a 25–21 advantage. The Panthers are still very much alive; a win by four or more points tonight sends them through on aggregate. The Warriors, meanwhile, know that any victory or even a draw will complete one of the most improbable semifinal runs in recent memory.
Both matches kick off under the Showtime Arena lights with the stands expected to be packed again after last week’s record in-person attendance and more than 100,000 online viewers worldwide. In this two-leg format, every point matters and no lead is safe.
By the final whistle tonight, the Super Bowl matchup will be set. Four teams enter only two will survive Judgment Day.
