There was loud jubilation at the situation room of the Lagos’ All Progressives Congress as the final results of the governorship election dropped Sunday evening.

In a viral video, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamsat were seeing pointing to the big screen in the room to express their joy.

APC had won 18 out of the 19 local government areas that were declared by the Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC early in the day.

The collation centre went on recess and resumed at about 6:30pm while it waited for the result of the Eti-Osa LGA.

The election at Eti-Osa was moved to Sunday, March 19 due to some hitches recorded by the officials on duty on Saturday, March 18.

Some of the youth corps members that were deployed in Victoria Garden City, Lekki complained about their insecurity.

However, the place was reinforced with police and other security agents to allow the election to take place eventually on Sunday.

According to the results so far released, the incumbent governor, Sanwo-Olu of APC is leading Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour party with about 400,000, excluding the Eti-Osa results.

This perhaps may have called for celebration as the total votes at Eti-Osa are not enough to change the victory.
