Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi has expressed his desire to be consistent after his goal earned Fulham a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage, insisting the result could provide the momentum his side needs for the remainder of the season.

The Super Eagles midfielder proved decisive for the Cottagers, finding the back of the net to secure maximum points in a closely contested encounter and reward the team’s efforts after a difficult spell.

Iwobi described the result as a long time coming, maintaining that Fulham had continued to perform well despite their struggles to turn those displays into wins.

“The win was a long time coming. We have performed well even though the results spoke otherwise,” Iwobi told Fulham.

The midfielder also revealed that manager Marco Silva had urged the players to remain focused and continue working hard despite their disappointing results.

“The manager has asked us to keep going, and hopefully the luck will go our way. It has now started, so we just have to kick on and use this momentum for the rest of the season.”

Despite scoring the decisive goal, Iwobi believes Fulham must improve their finishing and become more clinical in front of goal, arguing that their ability to create chances should translate into more goals.

He described the performance against Hull City as convincing but acknowledged that the team could have scored more goals to make the outcome more comfortable.

“It was a convincing performance, even though the criticism, even for me, is that we could have scored more goals.”

Iwobi is optimistic that Fulham’s attacking threat, combined with defensive solidity, would be crucial to their chances of securing more victories as the League progresses.

“As long as we’re creating the opportunities, we will score more goals. If we’re able to keep clean sheets like we did against Hull City, it will give us a chance to win games.”

Fulham will hope that their recent win against Hull City will spur them to victory in their next game against Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday, October 24.
