iStarter Hub graduates 100  successful ICT trained girls

No fewer than 100 young girls trained on digital printing have been graduated to start up the business on their own.

The training was put together by the founder of the organisation, iSarter Hub, Modupe Darabidan and the former Leader and of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Remy Shittu Remy, who is also an International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) alumnus.

Darabidan, a US Government alumnus, Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young Africa Leaders, said she established iStarter Hub to train young girls before they secure admission into higher institution of learning to equip them with opportunity to make money.

According to her, the training, being carried out at their training centre, Girl Creative Hub, at Ago-Palace Way, Isolo, is one of the empowerment trainings by the organisation.

Commenting on the training during their graduation ceremony, Shittu said the girls were trained in digital printing to introduce them to entrepreneur in the ICT field and create job for them in creative field.

He noted that the training was supported by US consulate, saying the next phase of the training will soon commence.

Counsellor for Public Affairs, US Embassy, Abuja, Adnan Siddiqi, who graced the graduation ceremony, commended the organisers for putting up such training.

He said the US Consulate will continue to encourage and support development of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria.

“In the US we believe all people are important. We are encouraged by this project and we support it. We shall continue to help by providing training for those who need it for SMEs to grow in Nigeria,” he said.
While presenting startup kits to some of the participants, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General, Lagos, Jennifer Foltz, congratulated the participants, from more support from the US.
One of the graduating trainee, Funmi Adesayan, said she came for the training when she could not secure job after graduating from Higher institution.
She confirmed that she has since been making money from the Job, adding that she has also been training other young ones in digital printing.
Others commended the organisers for the opportunity, promising to develop their skills as they received their certificates.
