The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), under the visionary and strategic leadership of its Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, has strengthened its stakeholder engagement and strategic relationship with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc (JBN) following a high-level courtesy/farmilarization visit to the company’s Office, Ijora Lagos, on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
The high-level LWC delegation was led by the Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, and comprised the Executive Director (Operations), Engr. (Mrs.) Helen Omolanke Taiwo; Director, Distribution, Engr. Bolaji Ogunlewe; Director, Legal Barrister ‘Lanre Fashola; Director, Consultancy, Technical and Engineering Services, Mrs. Odimayo Okayinka; Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs and Brand Management, Mrs
Kehinde Fashola; Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs and Brand Management, Mr. Rasaq Anifowoshe; , Deputy Director, Production; Engr.Afolabi Gégé; Assistant Director, Distribution, Engr Rahman Balogun and Mr. Kazeem Shuaib, Technical Adviser to the Managing Director.
The JBN team was led by Mr. Alexander Bauer, Regional Commercial Manager, Region West, alongside Engr. Gbenga Osunlana, Deputy Project Coordinator; Mr. Bolaji Johnson, Assistant Project Coordinator; and Engr. Rasheedat Anifowoshe, Senior Liaison Officer.
Speaking during the visit, Engr. Tijani described the engagement as a familiarisation and neighbourly visit, designed to strengthen institutional relationships, enhance mutual understanding of both organisations’ operations and lay the foundation for deeper collaboration in the future.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining cordial relationships with neighbouring organisations and strategic stakeholders, noting that strong relationships built today can create opportunities for greater collaboration tomorrow.
The engagement provided a valuable platform for both organisations to explore opportunities for closer coordination in road construction, water pipeline protection, water infrastructure development, sustainable water supply and integrated infrastructure planning, particularly across Lagos Island and its environs.
*TOWARDS BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE COORDINATION*
A major focus of the meeting was the need for early communication, technical coordination and proactive stakeholder engagement between road and water infrastructure stakeholders to prevent project conflicts, minimise disruptions and deliver durable infrastructure solutions.
Mr. Alexander Bauer (JBN) reiterated Julius Berger’s commitment to sustainable engineering solutions rather than short-term fixes, stressing the importance of proper coordination and early engagement before construction activities commence.
The meeting also considered access to relevant project drawings and technical information. Julius Berger explained that the release of detailed project drawings and plans is subject to the appropriate client approval. Both parties consequently agreed on the importance of coordinated engagement with the Lagos State Government to facilitate the necessary approvals and strengthen technical collaboration.
*STRENGTHENING WATER INFRASTRUCTURE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT*
Water infrastructure planning and the sustainable management of underground water resources also featured prominently in the discussions.
The LWC delegation emphasised the importance of accurate pipeline information in planning future water infrastructure and ensuring that road construction and other urban development projects are properly aligned with existing water networks.
The meeting further raised concerns about uncoordinated borehole drilling and its potential implications for groundwater resources and the ecosystem.
Stakeholders noted that strengthening reliable and centralised public water supply systems would help reduce dependence on individual boreholes, protect underground water resources and promote sustainable access to potable water.

Both organisations reaffirmed the importance of proactive information sharing on construction activities, road conditions, project schedules and potential disruptions.
Security and community considerations were also discussed, with Julius Berger highlighting its engagement with relevant authorities towards improving security infrastructure within the area.
