Inaugural Ibidoyin Aina’s Cup Set To Hold In Lagos

The maiden edition of the Ibidoyin Aina’s Cup is set to hold in Lagos where young talented young girls will have the opportunity of showcasing their talents to the World.

The Ibidoyin Aina’s Cup is envisioned as a celebration of female football talent in Nigeria while simultaneously serving as a platform for community engagement and empowerment.

The Ibidoyin Aina’s Cup is a brainchild of Ibidoyin Aina, a lawyer and avid supporter of female football. She has been passionate about female football development in Nigeria and has decided to create an avenue to promote female football in Nigeria, as well as give back to the community. Hence, the Ibidoyin Aina’s Cup which will be a yearly event promoting female football, gender equality, youth development and community engagement in Nigeria.

This year’s maiden tournament is focused on the empowerment of female footballers in Nigeria, as well as grassroot football development. The tournament will feature four teams representing different areas of Lagos State. The teams have been carefully selected to represent Epe, Badagry, Lagos Island and Lagos Mainland.

The Inaugural edition will hold on Saturday 18th May, 2024 at the Legacy pitch, National stadium Surulere.

The objective of the tournament is to celebrate the talent and dedication of female footballers in Lagos State.

The impact of power in female footballers, promoting gender equality, grassroots development, community engagement and charitable contributions

Aina is a practicing lawyer with speciality in Sports and Entertainment Law as well as Banking and Finance Law. Doyin is also a footballer who has been playing football since she was 6 years old. From a tender age, Ibidoyin Aina has been pushing for gender equality especially in sports as well as a presence of women where it matters. Because of her passion for female football, Ibidoyin Aina pioneered the creation of a female football team in her primary school, secondary school and University. Ibidoyin Aina was the captain of her university’s female football team for 5 years leading the team to record many victories.

Aina has supported a number of female football clubs and female athletes. She has also served as a guiding light for female football clubs and academies with regards to the legal aspect of the football business. She has been the legal advisor to FEFAP and WAFA since 2021. Her main aim is female empowerment in Sports.
