There was a face-off between the Ikeja Electric and its customers at Ago-Okota over the newly introduced e-bill which was sent to the customers through their email.
In conformity with technological advancement, the Distribution Company, Ago-Okota Undertaking Office, disclosed that it has started the electronic billing system, sending the bill to its customers through email instead of the usual hard copy.
The customer care representative who does not want her name mentioned, confirmed to ECHONEWS that the distribution company at Ago-Oka has adopted new dimension of bill circulation – electronic bill to replace the custom hard copy circulation.
“But it is a seamless effort, everyone is a tech savvy, it makes it easier for both parties.”
The customer care representative said the company began the approach with only customers who requested for it but some of the affected customers who spoke to ECHONEWS said they did not request for it.
They claimed that they didn’t receive such bill on their mails before the company disconnectd them for not paying their bills.
Reacting to the situation, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Isolo LCDA, Alhaji Fatai Abisiga expressed his displeasure about the development, saying: “I don’t think it’s appropriate, it should be done as it used to be. What will be done in the case of houses where a single bill is shared among all occupants? It’s subjected to alteration. What should be the case of those who are not tech-savvy? There should be a rethink on this.”
