Ibeju-Lekki Horror: Teen Murdered in Ransom Kidnapping
A deep sense of shock has swept through Awoyaya in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, following the brutal killing of 17-year-old Thompson Adams Omokafe in a case that has stunned residents and exposed a chilling betrayal of trust.
Investigations by the Lagos State Police Command revealed that the teenager was allegedly lured to an apartment by someone he once considered a close friend and former schoolmate. What began as a social meeting reportedly turned into a kidnapping plot tied to ransom demands.
Police identified the suspects as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Oghenetega, 21, who are accused of abducting the victim with the initial intention of extorting money from his family. However, the plan allegedly took a deadly turn after the suspects feared the teenager could identify them.
The victim was reportedly restrained and killed inside the apartment before his body was dumped in a secluded area within Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki.
The incident has triggered outrage across the community, with residents describing the act as both heartbreaking and deeply disturbing, especially given the relationship between the victim and the suspects.
Confirming their arrest, police authorities said the suspects were tracked and apprehended through coordinated intelligence operations. They also disclosed that preliminary investigations suggest possible links to other criminal activities within the area.
The case has once again raised concerns about rising youth involvement in violent crime and kidnapping networks in Lagos, with calls for stronger community surveillance and preventive measures.
Authorities say the suspects will be prosecuted as investigations continue.
